"You see a block, think about the image: it is inside,

you just have to undress it."

(Michelangelo Buonarroti)

My sculpture is based on the relationship between the human being and the world to which he belongs. Starting from swirling shapes that remind the DNA structure and the golden spiral in nature, this link strengthens with the comparison of the female figure with the material. Marble, wood or terracotta come together with the subject portrayed; the sensory relationship, each time renewed with the structural specificity of the material, creates organic sculptures where the human being, that can be the artist herself, the subject or the viewer, gets in contact with the material; the female figure, her strength as a maker of life, her sensual but fragile beauty against the passing time, mixes with the static strong one of the expressive media used, almost in a relationship of mutual aid or reciprocal exaltation. The final works look like fragments coming from the past, ancient, modified by the time with a veil of melancholy, but they are always an interpretation of the contemporary world in its various aspects. The combination of the "classicism" of white Carrara Marble with colored stones, less associated with a historical western stereotype like onyx or other kinds, expresses this relationship between past and present and it shows a deep knowledge of the contemporary society and of the moods of human beings. Marble is the media by which better represent the feelings and the cromia of the other elements completes emphasizing this expressive research. These are portrait of secret emotions, those objective and universal, sculptures about the fragility and the strength, the pursuit and the conquest; in these stones it is carved that part of the soul often forced to hide.
